Bleach Pen Shirt

Posted on

So I have seen these on Pinterest and thought I would give it a shot.  Well mine was not the best but can see how with the right design these could be super cool.  I was going to make it for my son’s birthday party but went and bought one instead.  We are using it as a pajama shirt though.

Draw or place contract paper template design on shirt.

Put something in between layers I used poster board so it would not go through to the other side.

Trace or fill in with a bleach pen

wait 15 min then rinse off and put in wash alone

done

What I did wrong!

  • I didn’t think about that gray would turn pink.  (this was the biggest problem my son had with the shirt)
  • The glasses were not crisp and clean.  I don’t know if it was that the contact paper was not down good enough.
  • I should have kept it simple with circles for eyes.
  • I think that I should have filled in the face and left the eyes and mouth without the bleach.

If done right I think this is a great project and fun!  I think I may try it again soon and will update photos with more of a line design like a henna tattoo looking shirt for my daughter.

About danielle

Hi! I am Danielle Interior designer turned stay at home mother of 3 wonderful kids. I love to do crafts, projects, parties, and photography. With this being said I am a not a pro by any means and have had many many failed attempts. Some funny and some just plain ugly:) I do not care for cooking and house work. My goal is to find a better, faster, more organized way to just get it done so I can spend time with the ones. This is where Pinterest has come into my life. Pinterest and I have a love/hate relationship. I have spent the better part of a day looking up great ideas and never putting them to use. What a waste of time... or is it? Sometimes I find something that rocks and I try it and the world is a better place:) But the worst is when I try something and it’s a big bust. A how did that ever pass for working, did they even read the steps they were giving, or do you think they get a laugh out of my attempt. Many friends have told me that I need to post the bad ones so they don’t bother and let them know the good pins so they can give them a try. So here goes!

  1. I am loving your blog mission. I tried working my way through various pins, but I think I may be too ambitious! My daughter and I have a kid’s craft blog where we’ve found alot of the “kid’s craft” pins on pinterest are actually made by adults a lot of the time and a bit too tricky for children to manage. It’s often better to take something as inspiration and go your own way with it in our experience so far.
I look forward to more of your posts 🙂
